This paper examines the transformation of “Indian culture and lifestyle content” from traditional, regionally bound practices into a global, digital commodity. It argues that contemporary content—spanning YouTube vlogs, Instagram reels, and OTT documentaries—operates at the intersection of preservation and performance. Through a qualitative analysis of 50 top creators (2020–2025) and audience reception studies, the paper identifies three dominant content archetypes: the Ritual Archivist , the Urban Fusionist , and the Diasporic Nostalgist . Findings reveal that while digital platforms democratize access to India’s pluralistic heritage, they also risk flattening complex traditions into aestheticized, algorithm-friendly spectacles. The paper concludes that authenticity in this genre is not a fixed state but a negotiated relationship between creator, algorithm, and community expectation.

High-performing content often focuses on wedding couture, sustainable everyday ethnic wear, the art of saree draping, and contemporary indie brands fusing Western silhouettes with Indian textiles. desi xxx photo
