Do NOT click the button in Mission Planner. Updating the bootloader incorrectly can permanently "brick" your Pixhawk, making it unable to boot or accept new firmware. The pre-installed bootloader is stable and should not be modified.
You may have a Pixhawk with a custom bootloader. Use FMUv3 version of the 248 firmware instead of Pixhawk1 . Download: ArduCopter-stable-3.6.8-fmv3.px4 .
A4: For a budget, educational, or simple hobbyist build, the 2.4.8 can still be an excellent choice. But if your budget allows, a newer controller like the Pixhawk 4 offers better performance, more peripherals, and longer software support.
